Table of Crockford Family Units, Cutcombe and nearby:
[In the early 1700s there were several Crockford families baptising children at Cutcombe contemporaneously - it is likely that at least some of the husbands were brothers; further, it is possible that they had married sisters in the parish. The early marriage records are now incomplete, and burial records typically shew only the deceased's name and date of burial.
The available parish registers delineate the following Crockford families (arranged chronologically)
[note: in this context, a base-born child, a marriage or remarriage gives another family unit]]
Some of these family groups are detailed in sections below. :

Provenance of Crockford Lineages:
Most of these families are first identified about Cutcombe and Wheddon Cross in north-western Somerset. The Bishop’s Transcripts for Cutcombe are discontinuous prior to 1757, but exist for 1728, 1735, 1749 and 1755. The first of several baptisms in 1755 was for James Crockford, base child of GRACE CROCKFORD; he was baptised on 28 December of that year.

Other Crockford families came from Berkshire: the Cutcombe families were related to these in some as yet unknown way.

Listing of Crockford BMD entries in selected parish registers:
The Somerset & Dorset Family History Society has undertaken the transcription and publication of the ancient parish registers of for the county of Somerset.
Nineteen volumes covering twenty two parishes have been published (the first 18 by Harry Galloway Publishing, but are now available only from S&DFHS). Transcribed by T.L.Stoate [1], Michael C. Hurley [2], D.T.Hawkings [3], A.J.Web [4], Thelma Munckon [5] and John Townson [6], these volumes are an invaluable resource for researchers concerned with the parishes of:

parish/church (years covered, volume number [transcriber])
Aisholt (v10 [2]), Carhampton (1598-1836/7; v2 [1]), Charlinch (v6 [2]), Creech St Michael (v8 [4]), Cutcombe (1598-1837 v13 [1]), Culbone (1605-1830/36; v14 [1]), Dunster (1559-1837; v17 [1]), Enmore (v11 [2]), Exford (1594-1837; v14 [1]), Hatch Beauchamp (1605-1840; v19 [5,6]), Luccombe (v4 [1]), Luxborough (1541/90-1837; v15 [1]), Oake (v9 [3, 4]), Oare (1599-1830; v14 [1]), Porlock (v12 [1]), Selworthy (v1 [1]), Spaxton (1558-1812; v16 [2]), Spaxton (1813-1959; v18 [2]), Stoke Pero (v4 [1]), Timberscombe (1598-1837; v3 [1]), Treborough (v7 [1]), Withycombe (v7 [1]) and Wootton Courtenay (1558-1836/7; v5 [1]).

A listing of extracted Crockford entries, augmented by this author's resaerch, for Carhampton (4), Culbone (0), Cutcombe (219), Exford (22), Luxborough (5), Oare (0), Timberscombe (2) and Wootton Courtenay (10) is available on-line as a "$"-delimited file (10 columns, 261rows).
